Description: Binding to cells via a high affinity receptor, laminin is thought to mediate the attachment, migration and organisation of cells into tissues during embryonic development by interacting with other extracellular matrix components. Ref: uniprot.org. This antibody recognizes laminin isotypes alpha-1 (440 kDa), beta-1 (220 kDa) and gamma-1 (220 kDa). Description: NGF receptor antibody clone 8J2 was developed specifically as a replacement for clone MLR2, which is no longer available anywhere for commercial use. Antibody reactivity for clone 8J2 has been validated for human, mouse and rat extracellular domain of p75NTR. Clone 8J2 has been demonstrated to perform equivalent to or better than MLR2 antibody in all testing.

Description: Required to maintain individual mitotic chromosomes dispersed in the cytoplasm following nuclear envelope disassembly (PubMed:27362226). Associates with the surface of the mitotic chromosome, the perichromosomal layer, and covers a substantial fraction of the chromosome surface (PubMed:27362226). Prevents chromosomes from collapsing into a single chromatin mass by forming a steric and electrostatic charge barrier: the protein has a high net electrical charge and acts as a surfactant, dispersing chromosomes and enabling independent chromosome motility (PubMed:27362226). Binds DNA, with a preference for supercoiled DNA and AT-rich DNA (PubMed:10878551). Does not contribute to the internal structure of mitotic chromosomes (By similarity). May play a role in chromatin organization (PubMed:24867636). It is however unclear whether it plays a direct role in chromatin organization or whether it is an indirect consequence of its function in maintaining mitotic chromosomes dispersed (Probable). Description: Required for brain and eye development. Promotes the disassembly of phosphorylated vimentin intermediate filaments (IF) during mitosis and may play a role in the trafficking and distribution of IF proteins and other cellular factors to daughter cells during progenitor cell division. Required for survival, renewal and mitogen-stimulated proliferation of neural progenitor cells (By similarity). Ref: uniprot.org

Description: BDNF belongs to the neurotrophin family and promotes the survival of neuronal populations that are all located either in the central nervous system or directly connected to it. It is a major regulator of synaptic transmission and plasticity at adult synapses in many regions of the CNS. The versatility of BDNF is emphasized by its contribution to a range of adaptive neuronal responses including long-term potentiation (LTP), long-term depression (LTD), certain forms of short-term synaptic plasticity, as well as homeostatic regulation of intrinsic neuronal excitability. The alterations in BDNF expression induced by various kinds of brain insult including stress, ischemia, seizure activity and hypoglycemia, may contribute to some pathologies such as depression, epilepsy, Alzheimer's, and Parkinson's disease. Microglia release BDNF that may contribute to neuroinflammation and neuropathic pain. SUBUNIT: Monomers and homodimers. Binds to NTRK2/TRKB. SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Secreted protein. Post translation modification: Converted into mature BDNF by plasmin (PLG). SIMILARITY: Belongs to the NGF-beta family.

Description: The 6X His tag is a short peptide sequence of 6 histidine residues. Epitopes such as the 6X His tag are often included with the target DNA at the time of cloning to produce fusion proteins containing the tag sequence. This allows anti-epitope tag antibodies such as this one to serve as a universal detection reagent for any recombinant protein containing this tag. Anti-epitope antibodies are a useful alternative to generating antibodies to identify a specific recombinant protein. The 6X His motif is often used as a tag on recombinant proteins to facilitate purification with immobilized metal-affinity chromatography.

Description: Arc (also termed activity-regulated cytoskeleton-associated protein or Arg3.1), is an effector immediate early gene whose upregulation has been demonstrated during events of synaptic plasticity. Arg3.1 expression is detectable in neuronal cell bodies and dendrites in the brain regions including striatum and cortex hippocampus, hypothalamus, amygdala.

Description: Maltose binding protein (MBP) is encoded by the malE gene of E.coli. MBP is often used in protein expression studies because it creates a stable fusion product that does not appear to interfere with the bioactivity of the protein of interest. It also allows for its easy purification from bacterial extracts under mild conditions.

Description: FUNCTION: Neuropeptides that play a significant role in the regulation of food intake and sleep-wakefulness, possibly by coordinating the complex behavioral and physiologic responses of these complementary homeostatic functions. A broader role in the homeostatic regulation of energy metabolism, autonomic function, hormonal balance and the regulation of body fluids, is also suggested. Orexin-A binds to both OX1R and OX2R with a high affinity, whereas orexin-B binds only to OX2R with a similar high affinity. SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Endoplasmic reticulum; rough endoplasmic reticulum. Associated with perikaryal rough endoplasmic reticulum as well as cytoplasmic large granular vesicles at synapses. SIMILARITY: Belongs to the orexin family.

Description: 14.3.3 protein eta or 14.3.3  binds to a large number of partners, usually by recognition of a phosphoserine or phosphothreonine motif. Binding generally results in the modulation of the activity of the binding partner (Ref SwissProt). 14.3.3 protein eta is widely expressed as both homodimers and heterodimers and are concentrated in the nervous system. High concentrations of 14.3.3 protein eta have been linked to Creutzfeld Jacob Disease, Parkinson's Disease and early-onset schizopherenia.
