Description: Le chlorhydrate (HCl) de tétracycline est un antibiotique qui inhibe la synthèse des protéines en se liant à la sous-unité ribosomale 30S, bloquant ainsi les interactions sur le site accepteur du complexe RBA-ribosome. C'est un membre de la famille d'antibiotiques des tétracyclines, une classe à large spectre qui inhibe par un mécanisme courant la croissance des organismes aérobies et anaérobies. Les congénères de la tétracycline sont obtenus de façon semi-synthétique à partir de la chlortétracycline produite par Staphylococcus aureofaciens. Sa résistance est conférée par le produit du gène TetR-Tn10 qui bloque la perméabilité de la paroi cellulaire. Le HCl de tétracycline est efficace contre les bactéries à Gram positif et à Gram négatif et est proposé sous forme de poudre.
