Description: CD147 is a transmembrane glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin superfamily. It is expressed more intensely on thymocytes than on mature peripheral blood T cells. CD147 is important in spermatogenesis, embryo implantation, neural network formation, and tumor progression. CD147 is involved in the regulation of matrix remodeling at the epidermal-dermal interface. It stimulates the production of interstitial collagenase, gelatinase A, stromelysin-1 and various metalloproteinases (MMPs) by fibroblasts. These enzymes, which are typically increased during tissue degradation and wound healing, are important factors in cancer invasion and metastasis.

Description: Fibronectin is a dimeric glycoprotein of 440 kDa, which is present in cells, extracellular matrix, and blood. It possesses at least four binding sites for collagen, glycosaminoglycans, transglutaminase, and a cell surface receptor. Fibronectin is involved in cell adhesion, tissue organization, and wound healing. This MAb is directed against the peptide core and reacts with both the plasma and cellular forms of fibronectin. It blocks the fibronectin-medicated cell attachment not by disrupting the collagen-fibronectin interaction, but by interfering with the attachment of fibronectin to its receptor on the cell surface.

Description: CD90 (Thy-1) is an 18-35 kDa GPI-anchored plasma membrane glycoprotein expressed in many cell types, such as in hematopoietic cells and neurons, connective tissues, various fibroblast and stromal cell lines, tumor endothelial cell lines and others. It is involved in T-cell activation, cellular adhesion, proliferation and migration, neurite outgrowth, wound healing, apoptosis, and fibrosis. CD90 participates in multiple signaling cascades and its effects are tissue- and cell type-specific. It often functions as an important regulator of cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions.

Description: Paxillin is a 64 kDa cytoskeletal adapter protein involved in organisation and function of focal adhesions, which are critical to cell adhesion and migration. This in turn plays a role in a wide variety of processes including embryogenesis, organogenesis, wound repair, inflammation and cancer. Paxillin contains LD motifs, LIM domains, SH3 and SH2 binding domains that serve as docking sites for cytoskeletal proteins, tyrosine kinases (e.g., FAK, Pyk 2, Src), serine/threonine kinases, GTPase activating proteins and other adaptor proteins (e.g., Actin, Vinculin, Crk).

Description: Exchange factor for GTP-binding proteins RhoA, RhoG and, to a lesser extent, Rac1. Binds physically to the nucleotide-free states of those GTPases (By similarity). Plays an important role in angiogenesis. Its recruitment by phosphorylated EPHA2 is critical for EFNA1-induced RAC1 GTPase activation and vascular endothelial cell migration and assembly. May be important for integrin-mediated signaling, at least in some cell types. In osteoclasts, along with SYK tyrosine kinase, required for signaling through integrin alpha-v/beta-1 (ITAGV-ITGB1), a crucial event for osteoclast proper cytoskeleton organization and function. This signaling pathway involves RAC1, but not RHO, activation. Necessary for proper wound healing. In the course of wound healing, required for the phagocytotic cup formation preceding macrophage phagocytosis of apoptotic neutrophils. Responsible for integrin beta-2-mediated macrophage adhesion and, to a lesser extent, contributes to beta-3-mediated adhesion. Does not affect integrin beta-1-mediated adhesion.

Description: Potential tumor suppressor. Seems to be involved in lymphocyte adhesion by linking RAP1A activation upon T-cell receptor or chemokine stimulation to integrin activation. Isoform 2 stimulates lymphocyte polarization and the patch-like distribution of ITGAL/LFA-1, resulting in an enhanced adhesion to ICAM1. Together with RAP1A may participate in regulation of microtubule growth. The association of isoform 2 with activated RAP1A is required for directional movement of endothelial cells during wound healing. May be involved in regulation of Ras apoptotic function. The RASSF5-STK4/MST1 complex may mediate HRAS and KRAS induced apoptosis.

Description: The Tenascin family of extracellular matrix proteins includes Tenascin (also designated cytotactin or Tenascin-C), Tenascin-R (also designated Restrictin or Janusin) and Tenascin-X. Tenascin proteins function as substrate-adhesion molecules (SAMs) and are involved in regulating numerous developmental processes, such as morphogenetic cell migration and organogenesis. The Tenascin family proteins arise from various splicing events in the region of coding for FNIII repeats. Tenascin and Tenascin-X are expressed in several tissues during embryogenesis, and in adult tissues undergoing active remodel-ing such as healing wounds and tumors. Tenascin-R (TN-R) is expressed on the surface of neurons and glial cells.

Description: Water channel required to promote glycerol permeability and water transport across cell membranes. Acts as a glycerol transporter in skin and plays an important role in regulating SC (stratum corneum) and epidermal glycerol content. Involved in skin hydration, wound healing, and tumorigenesis. Provides kidney medullary collecting duct with high permeability to water, thereby permitting water to move in the direction of an osmotic gradient. Slightly permeable to urea and may function as a water and urea exit mechanism in antidiuresis in collecting duct cells. It may play an important role in gastrointestinal tract water transport and in glycerol metabolism.

Description: FGFR1OP2 belongs to the SIKE family. The FGFR1OP2 (FGFR1 oncogene partner 2) gene was identified through its involvement in a fusion with the FGFR1 gene. FGFR1OP2 may be involved in the wound healing pathway. It is expressed in bone marrow, spleen and thymus. A chromosomal aberration involving FGFR1OP2 may be a cause of stem cell myeloproliferative disorder (MPD). Insertion ins(12;8)(p11;p11p22) with FGFR1. MPD is characterized by myeloid hyperplasia, eosinophilia and T cell or B cell lymphoblastic lymphoma. In general it progresses to acute myeloid leukemia. The fusion protein FGFR1OP2-FGFR1 may exhibit constitutive kinase activity and be responsible for the transforming activity.
