Description: LBP is involved in the acute-phase immunologic response to gram-negative bacterial infections. Gram-negative bacteria contain a glycolipid, lipopolysaccharide (LPS), on their outer cell wall. Together with bactericidal permeability-increasing protein (BPI), the protein binds LPS and interacts with the CD14 receptor, probably playing a role in regulating LPS-dependent monocyte responses. Studies in mice suggest that the protein is necessary for the rapid acute-phase response to LPS but not for the clearance of LPS from circulation. This protein is part of a family of structurally and functionally related proteins, including BPI, plasma cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP), and phospholipid transfer protein (PLTP).The protein encoded by this gene is involved in the acute-phase immunologic response to gram-negative bacterial infections. Description: Lipopolysaccharide binding protein (LBP) is a plasma protein, belongs to a member of structurally and functionally related proteins which includes bactericidal permeability-increasing protein (BPI), plasma cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) and phospholipid transfer protein (PLTP). It is involved in the acute-phase immunologic response to gram-negative bacterial infections. In cooperation with BPI. LBP binds LPS and interacts with the CD14 receptor, most likely playing a role in regulating LPS-dependent monocyte responses. Studies suggest that LBP is necessary for the rapid acute-phase response to LPS but not for the clearance of LPS from circulation. Finally, t The LBP gene is found on chromosome 20, directly downstream of the BPI gene.

Description: AG-126 prevents lipopolysaccharide-induced lethal toxicity (septic shock) in mice. Administered at 1.5 mg/mouse, it reduced LPS-induced lethal toxicity from 95% to 10%. AG-126 greatly reduces LPS-induced tyrosine phosphorylation of p42MAPK in murine peritoneal macrophages at 50 µM. EGFR, Her-2/neu receptor or PDGF-R are not inhibited at 100 µM. Inhibits tyrosine kinase-dependent B cell receptor signaling.

Description: Small molecule STAT3-specific inhibitor which blocks activation, dimerization and nuclear translocation via binding to the STAT3 SH2 domain. It is a very useful tool for exploring STAT3-mediated signaling pathways. It blocks LPS-mediated STAT3 tyrosine phosphorylation which leads to inhibition of LPS-mediated IL-1β and IL-6 production. In primary cultures of rat neural stem cells it blocks IL-15-induced differentiation.

Description: IRAK-M Antibody: Interleukin-1 (IL-1) and lipopolysaccharide (LPS) induces cellular response through IL-1 receptor (IL-1R) and Toll like receptors (TLR). IL-1 receptor-associated kinase (IRAK and IRAK2) mediates the activation of NF-betaB by IL-1/Toll receptors, which is a pivotal transcription factor mediating inflammatory and immune response. A novel member in the IRAK/Pelle family was recently identified and designated IRAK-M. IRAKs associate with IL-1/Toll receptors after IL-1 or LPS stimulation and the dominant negative mutants of IRAKs inhibit IL-1 or LPS induced NF-betaB activation. Members in IRAK/Pelle family play a central role in IL-1R/TLR mediated inflammatory responses to cytokine IL-1 and LPS.

Description: Molecular chaperone that promotes the maturation, structural maintenance and proper regulation of specific target proteins involved for instance in cell cycle control and signal transduction. Undergoes a functional cycle that is linked to its ATPase activity. This cycle probably induces conformational changes in the client proteins, thereby causing their activation. Interacts dynamically with various co-chaperones that modulate its substrate recognition, ATPase cycle and chaperone function. Binds bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS) et mediates LPS-induced inflammatory response, including TNF secretion by monocytes.
