Brilliant Cresyl Blue is a supravital stain used in hematology for demonstrating and counting reticulocytes and platelets. It is also used as a vital stain for demonstrating the mucous secretions of the marine coelomates.
Satisfactory for staining reticulocytes in fresh blood using both aqueous and alcoholic stain preparations.
Soluble in water, 1 N Hydrochloric acid, or 50% ethanol.
