Ecdysteroid.
A member of the ecdysteroid family. Analog of ecdysone with similar properties to muristerone A. It is a functional, reliable and economical substitute for muristerone A as an inducer for the ecdysone-inducible mammalian expression system. Results show that ponasterone A was able to induce expression of β-galactosidase to levels similar to those obtained with muristerone A induction. Potent compound for ecdysteroid activity; EC₅₀ = 0.07 µM.
Soluble in acetic acid, 100% ethanol, methanol or DMSO; insoluble in water.
