Neodymium(III) chloride hydrate

Neodymium(III) chloride hydrate is used for production of neodymium metal. It also finds application in lasers and fibre amplifiers. It serves as dopants for silica based as well as plastic fibres. It plays an important role of additives in organic light emitting diodes resulting in improved LED emission spectrum. In addition, it is used in catalysis of polymerisation of various dienes. It is used to modify titanium dioxide for use as a photocatalyst. Its coating on aluminium and its alloy protect them from corrosion. It is also extensively used as fluorescent labels for organic molecules.
